FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- N.C. Wesleyan prevailed in a both ends of a softball doubleheader over Methodist at Price Field on Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Battling Bishops took game one 25-0 and won game two 7-2 in a pair of games played as non-conference affairs. Methodist is now 7-25 on the season while the Bishops moved to 19-9 overall.
 
In the opener, MU was held to two hits while NCWC banged out 27 hits in the shutout win. The Bishops struck for nine runs in the first inning and scored in every frame. Sydney Kay and Kaitlynn Spielman recorded the two Methodist hits.
 
In the nightcap, Logan Lowery struck out 11 for the Bishops and gave up two runs on three hits with two walks in 7.0 innings.
 
Searria Fisher doubled home a pair of runs for Methodist.
 
N.C. Wesleyan took a 4-0 lead in the first inning, getting RBI base hits from Alicia Burns, Nichole Mooney and Meredith Smith.
 
After NCWC added a single run in the second, Fisher got MU on the board with a two-run double that plated Reagan Parks and Kristen Hamilton. Parks had walked to lead off the inning and Hamilton followed with a single.
 
The Bishops capped the scoring in game two with a pair of runs in the fifth.
 
Chloe Hespeler (0-2) took the loss, allowing seven runs on nine hits and four walks in 4.1 innings. Aly Thomas came on in relief and tossed 2.2 innings of scoreless relief.
 
Methodist plays Wednesday at Greensboro beginning at 2 pm.
