Ronelli Leads Monarch Women's Lax to 19-4 Win Over Ferrum

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Madison Ronelli led the Methodist women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 win over Ferrum on Saturday afternoon at Monarch Stadium.
 
Ronelli poured in a game-high nine points on five goals and four assists and added eight ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers as the Monarchs improved to 4-1 on the season and 3-0 in league play. Ferrum now stands at 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the USA South.
 
In addition to Ronelli's nine points, Sydney Bonner scored six goals and Monti Hendrix added a pair of goals, four assists and 10 draw controls.
 
The Monarchs turned a 4-2 lead with under 10 minutes to play in the first half into an 8-2 lead at halftime behind a pair of goals from Ronelli, and tallies from Hendrix and Kaelyn Holland. A Ferrum goal courtesy of Sianna Burgos-Altman to open the second half was followed by seven straight goals by the Monarchs as MU took a 15-3 lead with 12:59 to play.
 
Bonner scored three of the goals for MU, and Ronelli scored one and assisted on two more as the Green & Gold ran away with the win.
 
The Monarchs outshot Ferrum 42-13, won 20 of 25 draw controls, forced 32 turnovers and held a 31-20 edge in ground balls. Molly O'Hara played all 60 minutes in the cage for MU and made four saves. Ferrum's Brittany Hall made 15 saves on the day.
 
Sarah Ewin led the Monarchs with five caused turnovers, and added five ground balls, four draw controls and chipped in a goal and an assist. Sam Short came up with three caused turnovers and a pair of ground balls, and Emily Brennen notched a pair of goals, with two caused turnovers.
 
Kaitlyn Harley led the Panthers with two goals and an assist, while adding a pair of ground balls and two draw controls. Tatianna Roberts caused four turnovers to go with three ground balls.
 
Methodist will now head to Florida to play Bridgewater State on Tuesday beginning at 10 am.
