FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist men's tennis team tallied a pair of 9-0 victories against Ferrum at the Gene Clayton Courts on Saturday.
With the results, the men now sit at 10-6 overall and 6-2 in league play. Meanwhile, the Panthers drop to 0-12 and 0-8 in the USA South.
In the first match of the day, the team of
Jacob Oehser and
Reid Rose moved past Matt Poirier and Amadeus LaLande, 8-0, at the top slot, while
Coleman Baker and
Trent Harner defeated Andrew Meadows and Houston Murphy, 8-0, at the second doubles position.
David Hopkins and
KJ Hardie finished the doubles sweep with an 8-1 count against Marckensley Constant and Thomas Wallace.
In singles, RJ Clement defeated LaLande at the top spot, 6-0, 6-0, while
Ryan Jenne also earned a 6-0, 6-0 win.
Jack Holloway and Harner each picked up 6-0, 6-0 wins, while
Max Linder and Hardie closed out the team sweep with their own 6-0, 6-0 wins.
Wynn Johnson and
Kayhahn Alikhani teamed up to beat Poirier and LaLande, 8-0, at the top doubles flight to start the second match of the afternoon.
Joshua Deutsch and
Owen Findley defeated Meados and Murphy, 8-0, while
Hayden Wilfong and Clement dropped Constant and Wallace, 8-0, to complete the doubles sweep.
In singles play, Baker bested LaLande 6-0, 6-0 at the top slot, while Rose blanked Poirier 6-0, 6-0. Harner, Hopkins, Deutsch and Wilfong followed up with shutouts of their own as the Monarchs did not lose a game in the match.
Methodist returns to action on Wednesday, April 4, as it hosts N.C. Wesleyan at 1 pm.
