FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist men's tennis team fell to N.C. Wesleyan, 9-0, in USA South play on Tuesday afternoon.
The contest was moved up a day due to the threat of storms. Methodist now is 10-7 on the year and 6-3 in league play, while the Battling Bishops improve to 14-3 overall and a perfect 9-0 in conference matches.
In doubles play, RJ Clement and
Hayden Wilfong faltered, 8-5, to Ioannis Brokakis and Roberto Puig at the top spot.
Coleman Baker and Trent Harder were dropped by Sebastian Sikh and David Chang, 8-4, at the second slot while Aditya Iyer and JD Telles finished the doubles sweep with an 8-1 win against
Wynn Johnson and
Kayhahn Alikhani at the third slot.
In singles play, Sikh defeated Clement, 6-2, 6-4, while Baker fell to Brokakis 6-3, 6-1.
Reid Rose fell to Telles 6-2, 6-2, while Harner lost to Puig, 6-2, 6-1. Johnson was dropped by Iyer at the fifth slot 6-3, 6-4, while Wilfong was defeated by Change 6-1, 6-3.
Methodist returns to action on Friday, April 6, at Pfeiffer beginning at 3 pm.
