Men's Tennis Defeats Guilford, 6-3

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- The Methodist men's tennis team defeated Guilford, 6-3, in nonconference action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Monarchs improved to 14-7 on the season and win their third-straight game in their final tune-up before the USA South Tournament. Meanwhile, the Quakers move to 6-3 overall.

In doubles play, Jacob Oehser and Reid Rose dropped an 8-6 contest to Tate Godwin and Grahm Pearson at the first slot, while Coleman Baker and Trent Harner blanked Logan Glass and Elijah Gregory at the second position. Wynn Johnson and Kayhahan Alikhani picked up an 8-2 win against Kane Mills and Jarad Gandy to take two of three entering singles play.

Baker and Rose each fell in the first two singles positions, while Harner moved past Pearson, 6-2, 7-5 at the third slot and Johnson defeated Glass, 6-0, 6-1 at the fourth position. Hayden Wilfong moved by Gandy, 6-2, 6-2 at the fifth flight, while Jack Holloway dropped Mills, 6-1, 6-0 to set the final match score at 6-3.

Methodist is the No. 2 seed in the East in the USA South Tournament and will face LaGrange on Friday, April 13 at 2 pm.
