LaGRANGE, Ga. -- The Methodist men's tennis team advanced to the semifinal round of the USA South Men's Tennis Tournament with a 7-2 win against LaGrange on Friday afternoon.

In doubles play, the Monarchs picked up two wins with the first coming at the third spot.
Wynn Johnson and
Kayhahn Alikhani defeated Trevor McLemore and Caleb Edde, 8-6 and
Trent Harner and
Coleman Baker fought to a 9-7 win against John Mitchell Benton and Carlos Valdez. The top doubles pairing of
Jacob Oehser and
Reid Rose fell to Alan Valdez and Will Thompson, 8-6.

Johnson picked up a 6-1, 6-4 win against Geoffrey Martin at the fifth singles spot, while Hayden WIlfong moved past Edde, 6-0, 6-3. RJ Clement dropped Thomspon 6-2, 6-0 at the top spot before Baker picked up a 6-0, 6-4 win against Valdez. Harner also earned a 6-1, 1-6, 19-17 three-set match to secure a 7-2 win.

Methodist is in the semifinal of the conference tournament and will take on Covenant tomorrow,w April 14, at 2 pm.
