LaGRANGE, Ga. -- The Methodist men's tennis team picked up a 5-4 win against Covenant in the semifinals of the USA South Tournament on Saturday.

The Monarchs, who are the No. 2 seed in the East, advance to the final round of the three-day tournament and will face the No. 1 seed from the East, N.C. Wesleyan in the championship match.

In doubles play, MU started with an 8-2 win as
Coleman Baker and Trent Hardner defeated Logan Hull and Taylor Galloway at the second flight.
Wynn Johnson and
Kayhahn Alikhani dropped Trey Wood and Paxton Haggerty, 8-4, at the third spot, while Covenant picked up an 8-2 win at the top doubles flight as Matthew Harvie and Chris Cox defeated
Jacob Oehser and
Reid Rose.

Harner earned a 6-0, 6-3 win against Galloway at the fourth singles slot, while Johnson picked up a 6-4, 7-5 victory at the fifth position.
Hayden Wilfong defeated Ben Tonkel, 6-0, 6-1, as the Monarchs finished the 5-4 match win.

Methodist and N.C. Wesleyan are scheduled to play tomorrow in the league title game.
