LaGRANGE, Ga. -- The Methodist women's tennis team, who is the No 1 seed in the East, moved past the No. 4 sed in the West, Agnes Scott, 9-0, to advance to the USA South Tournament semifinal round on Friday afternoon at the McCluskey Courts.
In doubles, the tandem of
Jenna Landis and
Han Le defeated Taylor Lee and Liy Engsberg, 8-1, at the top spot before
Ashton Walker and
Audrey Greeson moved past Jasmine Keiler and Felicia Jacques, 8-1 at the No. 3 flight. The Monarchs completed the doubles sweep as.
Davi Barbour and
Taylor Jackson dropped Camille Wilson and Anastasia Bennett, 8-1, at the second position.
In singles, Landis swept Bennett, 6-0, 6-0, at the third spot and Walker upended Lee, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 1 singles to clinch the match win. Barbour defeated Engsberg, 6-2, 6-1, while the remaining three sets were played to eight-game sets.
Laura Brown dropped Keiler, 8-2 at fourth singles, while Le moved by Jacy Pippin, 8-1.
Allison Himes finished the shutout with an 8-6 win against Wilson at the fifth position.
Methodist will now face off with the No. 2 seed in the West, Huntingdon, in the league semifinals set to begin tomorrow, April 14, at 10 am. The match will be played on the campus of LaGrange.
