FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – The Methodist women's tennis team picked up a 5-4 win against N.C. Wesleyan in USA South play on Tuesday afternoon.
The Monarchs remain undefeated in league play and sit at 16-5 on the season while the bishops are 8-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play.
In doubles,
Jenna Landis and
Han Le picked upan 8-4 win against Florencia Sorrentino and Louise Hovhammer at the top slot, while
Davi Barbour and
Taylor Jackson defeated Stephany Barbera and Taitha Rowan, 8-5, at the second slot.
With a 2-1 lead heading into singles play, the Monarchs claimed wins in each of the top three singles flights to secure a victory.
Ashton Walker tallied a 6-1, 7-6 win against Sorrentino at the top spot before Barbour moved past Giulia Zanetti 6-1, 6-3, at the second spot. The deciding-win came via Landis over Nicole Halabi at the third slot, 6-2, 6-4.
Methodist returns to the courts on Saturday, April 7, against Salem to close out the regular season. Time is set for a 1 pm start.
