SALEM, Va. Methodist's women's volleyball team bounced back from a 3-0 loss at the start of day two of the Maroon Classic with its own 3-0 win to exit the Classic with a 3-1 mark.
Brittany Ter Meer earned all-tournament honors after collecting 43 kills, 3 block assists and 8 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a tight first set, Methodist outscored Hollins in the next two sets by a combined total of 50-19. The Monarchs rattled off a 17-0 run between both sets.
- With the first set against Hollins tied at 20-20, Methodist went on a 5-1 run to win the set. Lili Henry assisted on the last three points that won the set.
- Down early in the first set 5-9, the Monarchs went on an 11-1 run that featured four kills and three service aces in that span. Hollins countered with a run of their own, a 6-0 streak that tied the game at 18.
- Between both matches, Henry had 48 assists, including 39 against Hollins. Jasmine Tapscott and Brittany Ter Meer led the Monarchs with 18 kills between both matches. Tapscott and Ter Meer had 15 and 11 kills, respectively, against Hollins. Tapscott led the team in points for both games with 22 points and Ter Meer was second with 19.5 points.
- Bridgewater used a 7-1 run in the middle of the second set to win the set, widening a 13-8 lead to 20-9 before finishing it off for a 2-0 lead in the match.
- Down 15-5 in the third set, the Monarchs rallied back with a valiant 11-1 run to tie the set at 16. A Jamie Jones kill gave the Monarchs their first and only lead since the opening point. Tied at 20-20, Bridgewater used a 5-1 run to win the set and the match.
- Methodist had 16 service aces on the day. Lili Henry led with five, four of them coming against Hollins.
- The Monarchs were active on defense at net, registering eight blocks combined on the day. Tapscott had the only solo block and chimed in with three block assists. Ter Meer and Jones registered three block assists on the day as well.
- Megan Andrews had 28 combined digs (15 vs. Hollins and 13 vs. Bridgewater). Also notching double-digit digs in at least one of the two games were Alyssa Coffey (10 vs. Hollins), Henry (11 vs. Bridgewater), and Erica East (10 vs. Bridgewater).
BEYOND THE STATS
- These matches versus Bridgewater and Hollins were an exact replica of last season's Maroon Classic. The Monarchs were swept by Bridgewater 3-0 before sweeping Hollins 3-0 the next day. Overall, the Monarchs fared better in the Maroon Classic this time around, going 2-2 last season and 3-1 this season.
- Tapscott's 15 kills against Hollins registers as a career-high for her. Her previous career high was ten against Roanoke last year.
- Prior to this season, Henry's career high in assists was 26. Henry has already surpassed that total three times this season.
