NEWPORT NEWS, Va. Methodist traveled East for a pair of non-conference matches over the weekend, falling to host and 24th-ranked Christopher Newport University, 9-0, in Friday's evening match before dropping a Saturday-afternoon, neutral-site match to Centre (Ky.) College by the same score.

HOW IT HAPPENED
In both matches the opposition swept Methodist's doubles tandems to forge 3-0 leads heading into singles play.
Jill Lawrence, in a 6-4, 6-4 loss to Amanda Yermal at 2-singles netted the most games for the Monarchs in the CNU singles bouts.
The best match of the day Saturday against Centre was at the No. 3 doubles slot where
Taylor Jackson and
Abby Siracusa battled the Colonels' Katharine Sherman and Grace Headley. The pair from Centre ended up with one service break advantage to steal the match from Jackson and Siracusa, 8-6.
