ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. Methodist's women's tennis team ran into a tough opponent Saturday afternoon, falling 9-0 to host North Carolina Wesleyan College in the USA South Athletic Conference opener for each team.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A sweep of the three doubles matches allowed the Battling Bishops to roll into singles action with a 3-0 lead.
- N.C. Wesleyan clinched the match with singles victories at Nos. 1 and 2.
- Both Jill Lawrence at 4-singles and Jessica Tucker at No. 6, though losing their opening sets, had strong starts as Lawrence dropped a 6-4 decision to Julianna Johnson while Tucker was downed, 6-3, but Stephany Barbera.
- The pair of Bishops met the challenges by Lawrence and Tucker, though, and closed out their wins.
