DANVILLE, Va.  Methodist men's lacrosse controlled from start to finish against Averett University, defeating the host Cougars, 12-6, Saturday afternoon in USA South Athletic Conference action.

The Monarchs had a 7-2 lead at halftime after scoring five unanswered goals within the opening two quarters.

The Methodist offense registered a season-high 54 shots, resulting in a field day for Cade Crews (five goals and an assist) and AJ Mejia (two goals and four assists). Alternately, the Methodist defense, led by Andrew Mayefskie and his season-high 11 ground balls were on their A-game, with 18 caused turnovers.
