ATLANTA Methodist made quick work of host Oglethorpe University with a 14-6 victory over the Stormy Petrels in non-conference, men's lacrosse action Thursday afternoon.
You will not see a more dominant first-quarter performance in lacrosse than what the Monarchs' displayed on Oglethorpe Field. After the end of the first period, the Monarchs led 4-0 while outshooting the Petrels a whopping 15 to one. Methodist also had an 18-6 first quarter advantage in ground balls.
The Monarchs used that dominant 15 minutes to eventually cruise to an easy victory behind a Methodist season-high five goals from
Connor Glenn.
Mark Chatt also had a big hand in the win with four assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Oglethorpe cut the deficit to 4-2 in the second quarter, the Monarchs scored five unanswered goals to take a commanding 9-2 advantage early in the third quarter.
- Methodist scored a season-high 14 goals, including seven scores in the third quarter.
- The two teams traded goals over the final ten minutes of the third quarter with the Monarchs notching five goals to the Petrels' four.
- Scoring screeched to a halt in the final quarter with neither team scoring.
- It was not just a good day for the Methodist attackers, the Monarch midfielders and defenders were excellent, as well. Oglethorpe converted only 17 of its 31 clearing attempts for a percentage of under 55 percent. That marks a season-best percentage allowed for Methodist.
STAT FACTS
- Bryce Kephart was second on the team with three goals scored. He also scooped up five ground balls.
- A.J. Mejia continued his stat-stuffing ways with two goals, an assist, five ground balls, and three caused turnovers.
- Glenn also had an assist to go with his five scores. His six points is a team season-high.
- Andrew Mayefskie scored the second goal of his career today. He also logged a team-high eight ground balls. John Tartline was another defensive anchor with five ground balls and a team-high four caused turnovers.
- Nick Lemieux won 12 of his 18 faceoffs.
- It was a trio of Monarchs that got the job done in goal for Methodist today. Cameron Brink led with seven saves with no goals allowed in only a quarter of action. Clay Stevenson earned four saves in a quarter and Liam Von Hoene got the start and the win with two saves.
