FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. The fall portion of Methodist's women's tennis schedule has kicked off with the three-day MU Fall Invite, taking place Friday through Sunday at the Gene Clayton Tennis Center on Methodist's campus.
Three flights of doubles brackets concluded on Friday evening, and opening rounds of seven singles flights rolled across a long Saturday at the Tennis Center.
DOUBLES FLIGHTS RESULTS
- Abby Caddick and Sydni Lewis played into the Flight #1 semifinal round, falling 8-1 to the eventual flight winners.
- Jill Lawrence and Bri Rado advanced into the finals of the consolation side of Flight #1's bracket, dropping an 8-5 decision.
- Freshmen Victoria Trevino and Jillian Garrett won their opening match in the #2 flight but were bounced from the semifinal round in an 8-2 defeat. The duo would finish fourth in the flight after getting tripped up in the third-place match, 8-4.
- Natalie Collins and Alex Pratt played into the consolation side of the #2 flight's bracket before an 8-4 defeat ended that run.
- It was an all-MU consolation final in Flight #3 where Jessica Tucker and Catherine Smith teamed up to defeat the Monarch freshmen tandem of Savannah Lee and Sydney Bird, 4-1.
SINGLES FLIGHTS (late Saturday results not yet posted)
- Lawrence won her opening match, 6-3 and 6-2, to move into the Singles Flight #1 semifinal round.
- Jessica Tucker, with an opening-round bye, played in the Flight #2 semifinal round Saturday.
- Megan Kidd easily won her opening match in Flight #3, 3 and 2.
- Both Pratt and Garrett, in the upper and lower halves of the #4 flight's bracket, advanced into the semifinal round.
- Kamdyn Balko, with a bye, and Smith (a three-set victor) are on opposite sides of the semifinals in the 6-singles flight.
