Final score: Methodist def. Bridgewater, 12-3
Records: Methodist 3-3, Bridgewater 2-1
Location: Armstrong-Shelley Field; Fayetteville, N.C.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • It was an eventful sixth inning for Methodist. The Monarchs scored three runs with two outs after three consecutive walks loaded the bases. Rob Wilkerson scored two with his single and the third run scored on Clay Richardson drawing a walk. Wilkerson's hit gave the Monarchs an emphetic 12-1 lead.

An Eagles' error on a failed pickoff scored Richardson and advanced Christian Yarbrough to third. Wesley Hall's triple scored Yarbrough and Matthias Carter scored Hall with a double.
  • An early pitching change in the third inning for Bridgewater did nothing to queal the Monarchs' bats. Alex Kachler led off with a double, followed by a walk by Criswell, and a well placed bunt that registered as a hit for Richardson. Finally, Cassell brought them all home with his double to left center. With Cassell's hit, the Monarchs were ahead 7-0 with six innings to play.
  • Cassell earned the fourth RBI when he singled in the fifth to score Criswell for the 8-1 lead.

STAT FACTS
