SALISBURY, Md. Host Salisbury University earned a 7-2 non-conference men's tennis victory Saturday afternoon over visiting Methodist, as
Tyler Kane picked up both of the Monarch points in singles and doubles play.
Kane teamed with
Hayden Wilfong to solidly claim a win at No. 2 doubles, 8-4, over Salisbury's Patrick MacLean and Brad Pappalardo.
And in singles action Kane downed Pappalardo in three sets -- 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 -- at the No. 5 spot.
Wilfong nearly added another point for the Monarch, losing a tight battle with MacLean, 7-5 and 6-4, at 3-singles.
Henry Murray equaled Wilfong's scores in a narrow loss at No. 4 to Ryan Santmyer.
The Monarchs open a busy Sunday with a non-conference match against Goucher College at Salisbury's courts, while a split squad will be in Hickory, N.C., to play a doubleheader against Division I Lenior-Rhyne University.
