THE ESSENTIALS
Final score: Methodist def. Salem, 3-0 (25-10, 27-25, 25-10)

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs started the first set by scoring the first five points. The Spirits got back within three points, when the score was 6-3, at one point before Methodist ran away to take the set
- The second set was tightly contested the entire time. Salem once again found themselves down early though.
- That did not stop the Spirits from rallying back and take their first lead in a set, 8-7. They eventually increased that lead to 13-9.
- The Monarchs refused to quit though as they battled back to 15-15. The rest of the set saw the teams going back and forth trading points, until Methodist claimed the final three point to win the set 27-25.
- Much like the first set the Monarchs jumped out to an early lead in the third set. There was no catching Methodist this time as they used an 8-0 run in the set to put it out of reach.
MATCH NOTES
- Kendall Craig set the tone by matching her career high in kills with 14, which was also the match-high.
- Both Craig and Leann Sessoms were great defenders in front of the net. Craig finished a match-high 4 blocks while Sessoms had 2.5.
- Four different Monarchs recorded double-digit digs in the match, with Hannah Hewett having a match-high 18 digs.
