HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pacers started the first set of the day by scoring the first seven points. A 5-0 run later in the set put it out of reach for the Monarchs to take the first one.
  • The next set saw Methodist keeping the score close early on, with them at one point having a 3-2 lead. Eventually William Peace would take the lead over and slowly increased the score to where the Monarchs could not come back.
  • In the closest set of the match, the Pacers took a 4-0 lead to start. Methodist would battle back to get within three, 10-7, but that was the smallest margin they came within before dropping the match.
  • Similar to how a couple of sets went against William Peace, the Pride raced out to a 5-1 advantage. This time though the Monarchs found a way to storm back and seven-point swing would give them the lead, 10-6. Greensboro was back within one later on but a good 5-0 run sealed the set win for Methodist.
  • During the second set had six lead changes and five ties as the two teams battled for control. What helped claim Methodist the set was when the Pride got back within one, 15-14, and they scored the next five points to put them ahead by six before taking the set.
  • Greensboro raced out to a 6-2 advantage over the Monarchs and never trailed from that moment. Methodist would get within two a few times but the Pride kept drawing out their lead and won their only set by scoring the final five points.
  • The final bout saw the Monarchs take the first two points before trailing for most of the set. Greensboro kept ahead by two point up until Methodist scored five straight point to take the lead and eventually the match.

  • Even though the Monarchs split match, they lost in the hitting category for both matches. It was a lop-sided affair against the Pacers, who had a .257% compared to Methodist's .095%. It was closer in the second match but the Pride would out hit the Monarchs (.168% to .142%).
