HOW IT HAPPENED
- Early in the match, Laura Harris had a prime opportunity to get the first goal. Getting the ball at mid-field then dribbling past all the defenders, for a one-on-one with the keeper. One touch to strong push the ball further than Harris could get to before the goalie grabbed it.
- Despite the strong touch, Harris still found a way to get involved in the first Methodist goal. After getting around her defender, Harris got the attention of another Battling Bishops defender and goalkeeper. This left Lourenco-Shiber wide open, who knocked the pass into the net.
- After leading 1-0 at the mid-point, the Monarchs were not satisfied with their one goal. Marshall-Hewitt this time got involved with Methodist's second goal in the 64th minute.
- Nine minutes later, N.C. Wesleyan cut the deficit in half making it 2-1, with 16 minutes left in the match.
- Even with the five other shots the Battling Bishops had in the second half, only one made it on target, which was saved by Methodist goalie Mary Newman.
