HOW IT HAPPENED
- The match against the Greensboro Pride could have swung in Methodist's favor. After trailing 10-2 the Monarchs clawed back into the match, eventually knotting the score at 17-17. Greensboro broke the tie with five unanswered points then soon after reached set point at 24-19. Backs to the wall, the Monarchs put together a six-point run to not only stave off defeat, but to forge ahead, 25-24, serving at their own set point.
- Greensboro fought off that challenge and did so again at 26-25, then Methodist fought off another set point at 27-26 and again at 28-27 before the Pride scored two straight to break a 28-28 tie and earn the set victory.
- After Greensboro won the second set, Methodist opened the third set with a 6-0 start and never trailed in holding back defeat, but the Pride trailed only once, at 1-0, in what was a deciding fourth set that earned Greensboro the set and match win.
- Methodist never really found its footing in the match against William Peace, trailing throughout first- and second-set defeats. The Monarchs started the third set with a change in momentum, pushing ahead 6-5 early on, but a 6-2 Pacers run erased that deficit and led the visitors to a sweep on the match.
