FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist men's basketball failed to stop non-conference opponent Ferrum College second half comeback, as they lose 76-72 Sunday afternoon in the March F. Riddle Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs jumped out to an 11-3 lead in the first four minutes of the contest before the Panthers brought it back to within two, with 13:46 left in the half. A 6-0 run by Ferrum would give them their second lead of the contest at 17-15.
- In the next eight minutes, there was three ties and lead changes between the two squads up until the four minutes left in the first. A pair of free throws by Dante Burden put the Monarchs back ahead, and Methodist would then out score the Panthers 11-6 in the closing minutes to take a 36-30 halftime advantage.
- Ferrum wasted no time in starting the second half in a flash when they knocked down a three in the first nine seconds of the new period. Eventually the Panthers tied the game up at 41-41 four minutes later. Afterwards the Monarchs score six unanswered points to reclaim their lead at 47-41.
- With 11:30 left in the second half, Ferrum used an 8-0 run to go up 53-49 for their first lead since the previous frame. Even with Burden scoring the next three points, the Panthers pushed their advantage to double digits in the next three and half minutes.
- Buckets from Tomas Stevens and Burden got the deficit down to five, but Ferrum answered back by scoring the next eight points to make it 72-57, for their biggest lead of the game. Kevin McLaughlin Jr. tacked on the next eight points for Methodist to close the gap at 73-65 with 1:28 left.
- Burden and J'Quan Deal scored the next seven points for the Monarchs to make it a four-point game but that would be the best Methodist could get to the lead before time expired.
MORE TO IT
- Lead all scorer in the contest was Burden with 24 points. Along with him, McLaughlin and Chris George also reached double-digit points, with 13 and 16 respectively.
- Though the Monarchs slightly had more turnovers, 12-11, Methodist capitalized on them by scoring 23 points off them with the Panthers only scoring ten.
- Ferrum received good help from their bench as they added on 24 points for them, while the Monarchs only got 14 from their reserves.
