Praylow's Two Touchdowns Push Monarch Past the Pride 40-14

GREENSBORO, N.C. Despite the slow offensive start, Methodist football earned a convincing win, 40-14, over host Greensboro College in USA South Athletic Conference action on Saturday at Pride Field.

In the game Kobe Praylow had two total touchdowns, a rushing and kickoff return. His 90-yard score on the kickoff was the second, and the longest return, of his career.

This was also the sixth game in a row the Monarchs have scored 40+ points against the Pride.

JUST THE FACTS
Final score: Methodist def. Greensboro, 40-14
Records: Methodist 6-2 (6-1 USA South), Greensboro 0-9 (0-7)
Location: Pride Field; Greensboro, North Carolina

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first score of the game is an unusual one in football. Bobby Haggerty of Methodist first punted the ball and was downed at the Greensboro 2-yard line. After an incomplete pass by the Pride, they attempted a run play. The play was stuffed as Jairus Brown came crashing in to tackle the running back in the end zone for the safety.
  • The ensuing free kick to the Monarchs would also lead to a score to put themselves up 9-0. A couple of passes from quarterback Brandon Bullins to receivers Xzavier McNeil and Praylow, for 12 and 14 yards respectively, brought Methodist to the Pride 7-yard line. It was then Praylow received the handoff and scampered into the end zone for the touchdown.
  • Greensboro would respond back on their next drive to get back into the game. They marched 71 yards down the field in nine plays, six of which were passing, for their first points of the contest. A 29-yard touchdown pass from David Loughry II down the middle of the field to Teagan Griggs capped of the scoring drive.
  • Just when the Pride though they got back into the game, their spirits got knocked down some, as Praylow returned the kickoff 90 yards to the house.
  • With a little over two and half minutes until the break, the Monarchs score one last touchdown. This time it was Bullins connecting with Thomas Wade for an 18-yard bullet to make it 23-7.
  • In the beginning of the game, Greensboro elected to receive the opening kickoff, which means Methodist got the ball to start the third quarter. It took them 11 plays, spanning 57 yards, for Bullins to find AJ Cooper on a 4-yard touchdown throw.
  • The Monarch defense would force a Pride three-and-out to give Methodist the ball back on their own 45-yard line. Three plays later, Bullins dumped the ball out to Keyshaun Pete who then ran 49 yards after the catch for another Monarch touchdown.
  • Trevor Hargett joined in the Methodist scoring frenzy but adding on another three points with a 19-yard field goal later on in the third quarter, to make it 40-7.
  • Before the game was over, Greensboro would score the final touchdown. On a 4th-and-Goal, Loughry II threw a one-yard pass to Zach Atkinson in the end zone.
