Ferrum Holds Off Monarch Challenge

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  In the 2021 season opener for Methodist women's lacrosse, the Monarchs shook off a slow start and rallied in the second half but visiting Ferrum College still earned a 14-8 win over the Monarchs in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers raced out to a 12-3 halftime lead but instead of folding, the Monarchs recovered nicely by outscoring Ferrum, 5-2, in the second half as Methodist seized momentum for the entirety of the second stanza.

Ramos and Nee linked up officially with 11 minutes remaining when Nee earned the assist on a Ramos goal to make it a 13-8 game.

Foyles scored the Monarchs' lone goal in the 8-1 start and Foyles and Payton Jones took advantage of man-up situations and scored on free position attempts to cut the deficit to 8-3. Four consecutive Ferrum goals closed out the first half for a score of 12-3.
