FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Visiting Piedmont College was able to grab a 3-1, non-conference win over Methodist baseball on Saturday afternoon.
Methodist scored a run in the third inning and was leading until the Lions crossed three runners home in the top of the sixth.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Christian Yarbrough's lead-off single in the third inning eventually led to him scoring off a sacrifice bunt from Jacob Austin.
- The Lions led off the sixth inning with four consecutive hits and a walk to bring in two runs. With no outs and the bases loaded, Nathan Cockman entered the game in relief to record three outs while surrendering just one run (uncredited to him) via an infield fielder's choice.
- Chances to extend the Methodist lead came in the fourth and fifth innings. In the fourth, Wesley Hall was called out at home plate following a left field double to Spencer Nelson. In the fifth, Yarbrough was left stranded at third base.
MORE NUMBERS
- Cockman mitigated the damage by allowing just two hits and no runs through the final four innings.
- Methodist registered five hits with Ryan Hill and Nelson recording doubles. Yarbrough had a hit, a walk, and a stolen base.
- Sam Carpenter got the win for Piedmont, going eight innings and allowing just four hits while striking out six.
