HOW IT HAPPENED
- Life comes at you fast. After Nee scored to tie the game at 1-1, Nee returned with another score 61 seconds later after Jalessa Batchelor won the draw control for Methodist and Mikayla Ramos scooped the ground ball. Ramos assisted on Nee's third goal and 14 seconds later, Payton Jones won her draw control and scored herself. The Monarchs scored their first four goals in a span of 3 minutes, 17 seconds.
- The Monarchs scored three straight to extend a 4-2 lead to 7-2 and after the Marlins' third goal, Methodist returned with another three goals to lead 10-3.
- Three straight Virginia Wesleyan goals made it a 16-12 game with 13 minutes to play. Methodist responded promptly with a draw control win by Batchelor and a Nee goal less than a minute later. The Monarchs again won the draw control and Williams scored in the same possession to take an 18-12 lead, hushing any comeback attempts.
- The Marlins scored four straight goals to open the second half, cutting the deficit to 12-8 with under 24 minutes remaining. The Monarchs, however, were able to stymie any Marlin momentum when Payton Jones scored following her draw control win. Ramos, with an assist from Nee, scored later to give Methodist a 14-8 lead.
