GREENSBORO, N.C. It was immediate revenge for Methodist softball as the Monarchs won the second game of a non-conference doubleheader against Greensboro College, 8-3, after losing Game 1 by a score of 11-0 through five innings Saturday afternoon.
The 14 hits in the second game, led by three each from
Bethany Junker and
Taylor Jones are a season-high by the Monarchs. The three doubles in the game by Methodist batters tied the season-high.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist used the third inning to break the second game open, scoring four runs to take a 6-1 lead. The Monarchs scored four runs, all coming with two outs. Bri Caton's double scored both Taylor Jones and Sara Darling. Caitlyn Holland cleaned up to score Caton with a single and Claire Cummings' single moved Caton to third. A wild pitch scored Holland for run #4 in the inning.
- The four runs in the third were joined by two runs each in the second and fourth innings to give Methodist a bigger 8-1 cushion. With two outs in the second, Cummings loaded the bases with a single down the left field line. Junker followed up with a single to centerfield that scored Holland from second and Darling from third.
- In the fourth, the Monarchs logged singles in three consecutive at-bats. Taylor Jones up the middle, Liz Schmitz through the left side, and finally Kaley Evans to left field. Evans scored Jones from second and a wild pitch plus a Greensboro error led to Schmitz scoring for the second run of the inning.
- Greensboro opened Game 2 with a run in the first inning and then added two more runs in the seventh.
- Greensboro scored nine of its 11 runs in the second and fourth innings of the first game. Cummings registered the only hit for Methodist, and she added a walk. Reagan Parks and Kaley Evans also reached base safely on walks.
- In Game 2, Schmitz and Cummings had two hits to join Junker and Taylor Jones in the multiple hits category.
- Jones also had a walk in the second game and Holland had a hit and a walk.
- Brittany Jones earns the win in the second game by going the complete seven innings and striking out eight while allowing just three runs.

- Methodist has a four-game series against Meredith College. The doubleheader on Wednesday, March 24 are conference matchups and two games on Saturday, March 27 are non-conference.
