HOW IT HAPPENED
- To start the eighth inning of Game 1, Ashlynn Elliott was placed on second base (International tiebreaker rule) with Sara Darling up to bat. Darling placed a sacrifice bunt to the third basemen and an errant throw led to Elliott scoring the walk-off run from second.
- Methodist struck gold first in the game, scoring a run in the bottom of the fourth. Heather Tsapp led with a double to left-center. Reagan Parks, entering as a pinch-runner, moved to third following a sacrifice bunt from Taylor Jones and scored from a single by Taylor Bowen. Meredith tied the game 1-1 in the top of the sixth, thanks to a sacrifice bunt moving runners to second and third and a sacrifice fly scoring the player at third.
- Game 2 was a near repeat of the first game with the contest being tied 1-1 entering extra innings. Unfortunately, the Avenging Angels grabbed the win thanks to a single scoring the runner placed on second and an infield error scoring two more runners.
- Tsapp scored in the first inning to give Methodist the early lead. With one out, Tsapp hit a double down the right-field line. Taylor Bowen moved Tsapp to third with a single and a Meredith error scored her. The Avenging Angels utilized two doubles and a sacrifice bunt to tie the game in the top of the fifth.
- Tsapp led the team as she was responsible for three of the Monarchs' six combined hits for the day.
- For Meredith, Danielle Hunt got the win by going eight innings and striking out six batters while allowing four hits and no earned runs.
- Game 1's win came despite the Monarchs getting outhit, 7-2. Meredith left six runners on base.
