GAME NOTES
- The top of the fifth inning represented the Monarchs' best chance to take Game 1. Methodist had Sara Darling at second and Claire Cummings at first with one out but was unable to advance either runner further.
- The Monarchs scored their first run in the third inning when Taylor Jones singled to bring Darling home. Doubles from Heather Tsapp and Kaley Evans resulted in Tsapp scoring and Evans getting the RBI, which cut the deficit to 3-2.
- Meredith had broken a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the third by scoring two runs off three singles and a double.
- Game 2 was a 1-0 game for six innings before a two-RBI double from Madison Hamilton. The Avenging Angels had previously scored a run in the first inning.
- Methodist left seven runners stranded in the second game, including a bases loaded situation in the third. Taylor Jones and Haley Potter singled, followed by a Bethany Junker walk.
- Brittany Jones pitched Game 2 and struck out five while allowing six hits, no walks, and two earned runs. This is her first complete game without surrendering a base on balls this season. Unfortunately for Jones and the Monarchs, Meredith's Sarah Gundlach got the win with a shutout and eight k's.
- Evans, Tsapp, and Taylor Jones had a hit in each game. Darling had two walks in the second game.
