Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 STAUNTON, Va.  Monarch softball visited Mary Baldwin University Saturday for a USA South Athletic Conference doubleheader. Methodist earned a 7-0 win in the opener but the Fighting Squirrels bounced back for a six-inning 8-0 win in the nightcap.

Complete statistics were not available, but the Monarchs used a five-run fourth inning in the opener to blow the game open, expanding a 1-0 lead into a six-run bulge. Another run in the top of the seventh capped off the shutout victory.

In Game 2, it was Mary Baldwin that used a big inning on the way to victory. The Fighting Squirrels scored once in the bottom of the first, then tacked out five more in their half of the second.

Two-hit baseball from their starting pitcher kept Methodist at bay until MBU scored twice in the bottom of the fifth to end the game by run-rule.
