MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. Isaiah Cuthrell's leap of 12.26 meters (40 feet-2.75 inches) in the men's triple jump was one of several personal records set by Methodist track & field athletes during the concluding day of the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational on Saturday.
Curthrell registered his new PR -- his first jump over 40 feet -- on the second of his three attempts.
Posting two new PRs during Saturday's events was
AJ Matthews, earning those new marks in the men's 100- and 200-meter dashes. His time of 11.46 seconds in the 100 was good for 25th place, and later in the schedule his raced to 18th place in the 200 with a new PR of 23.53.
Also registering a PR in the 100 was
Andrew Lewis with a time of 12.53 seconds.
The men's mile earned
William Gray a PR with his time of 4 minutes, 49.39 seconds. Also in the event,
Drew Topoly finished 12th with a 4:40.40 and
Austin Ezzell (4:55.03) was 26th, both recording their first times in the mile at the collegiate level.
Another PR for the Monarch men came in the 400m dash where
Richard Staley finished 21st with a time of 54.04 seconds, right behind teammate
Stephen Dukes (54.00) by the narrowest of margins.
Courtney Drumm posted a pair of top-20 finishes in the women's mile (5:53.00) and the 800 (2:36.88). She was 17th in the mile and 18th in the 800.

Methodist will participate in the Adidas Trojan Challenge on March 26 and 27, an annual event hosted by the University of Mount Olive.
