HOW IT HAPPENED
- 2 minutes and 48 seconds. That was all it took for the Monarchs to get on the scoreboard as Aiden Sherry scored following a corner kick from Cheyenne Ferrin. From inside the six-yard goal box, Sherry footed the ball past two Cougars defenders for the score.
- 4 minutes and 6 seconds. That's how much longer it took for the Monarchs to score the second goal of the game. On a penalty kick, Ferrin beat the Averett goalie with a shot placed low and to the left. The penalty kick was awarded after a bad attempted tackle on Laura Harris inside the box.
- It was quiet for almost the next 60 minutes before Tatiana Lourenco-Shiber added the "cherry on top" in the form of a third goal for Methodist. In the 64th minute, Laura Harris crossed the ball into the six-yard box and the Averett keeper tipped the pass but the rebound resulted in an easy tap-in, open-net goal for Lourenco-Shiber.
- The shot differential was 22-4 in favor of the Monarchs and it was a 15-2 advantage in shots on target. Laura Harris led the attack with four shots taken, including two on goal. Madison Rizer was aggressive in her 20 minutes on the pitch with three shots taken, all on target.
- Mary Newman earned her first collegiate win as goalkeeper for Methodist. Maggie Hunt and Caley Justice also saw time as goalies.
