JUST THE FACTS
Final scores: Greensboro def. Methodist, 13-5
Records: Methodist 13-14 (6-5 USA South), Greensboro 9-11 (0-6)
Location: Armstrong-Shelley Field; Fayetteville, N.C.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- To lead off the third inning, Rob Wilkerson cut the deficit to 5-3 with a solo homer to left field. That was Wilkerson's second homerun in as many days. However, Greensboro one-upped Methodist with a Scotty McGuire grand slam in the top of the fourth. The Pride added a fifth run in the inning for a commanding 10-3 lead.
- Greensboro struck paydirt first with five runs in the top of the second inning. Singles in five consecutive at-bats led to the five runs. Methodist responded with two runs in the bottom of the second. Dagenhart hit a two-RBI single to left field that scored Ryan Hill and Wesley Hall after the duo reached base on hits.
- Dagenhart logged additional RBIs in the fourth and sixth innings for a 10-5 score. He singled to score Josh Lallo in the fourth and recorded a sacrifice fly in the sixth, which scored Hill. Hill had led the inning with a double to get on base and Lallo singled before a Zachary Ritter walk advanced him to second base.
- Hopes for a Methodist comeback was halted by a two-RBI homer by Braxton Rupp in the seventh. Include a run that Greensboro scored earlier in the inning and that is the final score.
- Dagenhart and Hill led the team with two hits apiece. Ritter had a career-high three walks.
- Michael Garvey Jr. led Greensboro with game-high totals of four hits and three runs scored. He was one of seven Pride players with multiple hits.
