GREENSBORO, N.C. Both ends of a seven-inning non-conference doubleheader between Methodist baseball and Greensboro College were decided by two or fewer runs. The visiting Monarchs won the first game, 7-5, before the Pride got revenge with a 6-5 win Friday afternoon.
Rob Wilkerson was a perfect four-for-four with two doubles in the win.
JUST THE FACTS

Records: Methodist 9-13; Greensboro 8-7
Location: Ted Leonard Park; Greensboro, N.C.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A whopping seven Greensboro errors were the Pride's downfall in the first game. Only two of the Monarchs' seven runs were earned. Tied 5-5 in the top of the sixth, a throwing error scored Ryan Hill for the go-ahead run.
- Hill led the inning off with a single and he made it to third base off of a sacrifice bunt and an error on a failed pickoff attempt. Methodist added another run in the seventh off of two more Greensboro errors.
- Trailing 3-1, Methodist tied the game in the fourth after an infield error scored Spencer Nelson and Christian Yarbrough. Another two runs were scored in the fifth with a RBI-single from Nelson that scored Rob Wilkerson and then a throwing error on the same play scored Yarbrough.
- Greensboro had scored three runs off of three singles and a double in the third.
- Methodist appeared to be heading towards a sweep after taking a 5-2 lead in the second inning of Game 2. A Wesley Hall walk, Josh Lallo single, and Nelson being hit by a pitch loaded the bases and Zachary Ritter and Will Dagenhart logged RBIs and reached first base safely before a two-RBI single from Yarbrough. Wilkerson added another RBI-single for the fifth run.
- However, the Pride found themselves back in the lead after scoring four runs in the fourth from four hits and a walk. Ultimately, the runners left on second and third base in the five-run second inning ended up being the difference.
- Nelson added two hits and a walk in the first game. Ethan Caldwell got credited with the win and Nathan Cockman earned the save as the pitchers on the mound for Methodist.
- Even more runs could have scored in Game 1 as Methodist left nine runners stranded and Greensboro left 10.
