FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Head football coach
Keven Williams has been voted the 2021 Methodist University Thomas R. and Elizabeth E. McLean Foundation Coach of the Year, as announced Tuesday by Vice-President and Athletics Director
Dave Eavenson.
In its 13th year, the award recognizes the head coach at the University who has demonstrated outstanding achievement on and off the field during the preceding academic year, as voted on by a committee of staff and faculty members.
Williams led his Monarch football team to an undefeated regular season (4-0, 3-0 USA South Athletic Conference East Division) in capturing the division title during the pandemic-adjusted spring season.
That regular-season success led to Methodist earning the right to host the USA South championship game, won, however, by visiting Huntingdon (Ala.) College.
Individual successes also marked the spring as 14 Monarchs were tabbed for the USA South All-East Division Team:
Brandon Bullins (QB),
Tyquan Eaddy (RB),
Jamaar Moore (WR),
Doug Miller III (TE/FB),
Jac Coleman (OL),
Nick Wiggins (OL),
Alex Boyd (DL),
Khalil Patterson (DL),
Roderic Christian Jr. (LB),
DaQuinton Grady (LB),
Jykel Lee (CB),
Nate Jones (SAF),
Kobe Praylow (RET) and
Trevor Hargett (PK).
Wiggins would later be named the 2020-21 D3football.com All-Region first-team center, and Patterson was voted second-team All-Region defensive end.
Tuesday's McLean announcement is Williams' first post-season honor as the MU head coach.
