SALISBURY, MD. Methodist women's soccer got the job done, with two late first half goals, in a 2-1 victory over Salisbury University. This was the programs first win against the Sea Gulls, in three meetings.
In the match,
Madison Rizer and
Rachel Johnson each scored. For Johnson, it was her first career collegiate goal.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- A break down in Salisbury's defensive line gave Rizer a one-on-one with keeper Regan Benton. A left footed kick tied the game 1-1, in the 44th minute, after Rizer faked out Benton for an empty net.
- Johnson scored the game-winner just 53 seconds later to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead right before halftime. A shot with her right foot would go through the goalies hands and into the goal.
- Salisbury tallied the first goal of the game, in the 38th minute. An Alyssa Chesney pass from the near side post found a streaking Samantha Spears, in the middle, for a one-time touch to the bottom right corner of the net.
NUMBERS
- The Sea Gulls held a 19-2, including a 5-2 shots on goal, shot advantage over Methodist.
- Salisbury had a 7-2 corner kick advantage, with a 5-1 difference in the second half.
- The Monarchs recorded four saves to the Sea Gulls zero, with Mary Newman registering all four saves.
