HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Southern Virginia jumped out early by scoring the first seven points of the contest, but then a jumper by Kiley Hicks sparked the Methodist offense where the team scored the next eight unanswered points for an 8-7 lead. • This run continued into the second quarter when Southern Virginia added the first three points until Emmenia Lynch got the first point for Methodist, off a free throw, to make it 23-11. For majority of the remaining time in the period saw the two teams trading baskets with each other all the way to a 41-21 score at the half.
  • The third frame opened up with Aniyah Tate making a shot for the Monarchs, which than led to the teams going back-and-forth in scoring. Midway through the third, the Knights used an 8-0 run to get close to a thirty-point difference, 58-29.
  • A 6-0 run by Southern Virginia was how the final quarter began, which led to the Knights largest lead of the contest 74-36.
