HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Monarchs held their own for a good part in the first set of the match. They were matching point for point a few times or kept the score within three. Methodist was looking to turn the tide after scoring back-to-back points to make it a 12-11 score, but William Peace tallied six consecutive points to pull away, 18-11. The final 11 points saw the Pacers outscore the Monarchs 7-4.
  • In set two, William Peace utilized a couple big runs to go up two games to none on Methodist. The first was a 7-0 run to put them out to a 13-4 advantage before a 5-0 rally made it 24-9 later on. The Monarchs were able to score three straight points before the Pacers finished off the set.
  • Game number three witnessed the closest score of all the sets played tonight. Early on, Methodist tied the score 5-5 but William Peace took back the lead by registering the next four points. Both teams eventually traded 4-0 runs to each other before the Pacers used a 5-0 run to go up 20-11. The Monarchs actually outscored William Peace 8-5 toward the end of the match though it was not enough to try to take a set from the home team.
