FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist women's soccer team hosted Mary Baldwin University at Duggins Soccer Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The Monarchs were able to blank the Fighting Squirrels 3-0 for their ninth overall victory and fifth in USA South Athletic Conference action this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist got the scoring going just five minutes into the contest. Junior Corrine Shovlain had the ball five yards from in front of the net. A nifty spin move by Shovlain got herself open before putting it in the goal.
- Shovlain heard her name called again in the 70th minute. Laura Harris had the all right at the top of the 18-yard box. Harris passed it up to Shovlain, where it was just her and the keeper, she beat the goalie to her left to find the back corner of the net.
- The third goal of the game came in the 82nd minute. Madison Hoopes kicked a curveball over the keeper's head into the corner of the goal.
STAT FACTS
- For the game, the Monarchs shot the ball 22 times in the afternoon, with 11 reaching on target. Mary Baldwin registered nine with one shot on goal.
- Senior goalie Mary Newman picked up her seventh win of the season.
- This was the second time in three games that Shovlain has recorded two goals.
