FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist men's basketball took on Johnson & Wales University - Charlotte on Wednesday night in a non-conference match. The Wildcats got the better of the Monarchs by beating them on their home court, March F. Riddle Center, by a score of 81-63.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The three-point shots were flying for both teams to begin this contest as JWU knocked three of them while Methodist made two, 9-6. Ethan Smith get the three parade going with two others during a 10-0 run by the Wildcats.
- Brone Brinson ended the Monarch scoring drought with a jumper and that sparked a 7-0 run by Methodist, 19-13. JWU did not slowdown in the scoring output as the deficit increased to as high as 17 points, 40-23, late in the first half. In the last three minutes, the Monarchs offense started to click more as they cut it to a 11-point game at the half.
- That momentum by Methodist at the end of first carried into the second half as the scored eight unanswered points, four of which were by Clayton Coe, to make it 56-50. The Wildcats would eventually tally eight consecutive points to push it back to a double-digit lead.
- After the Monarchs got four point from Derrion Hicklen on back-to-back layups, JWU registered the next six points to make the deficit as high as 21 points, 77-56. In the final two minutes, Methodist scored five of the final seven points by way of the free throw line.

- The size difference between these two squads played a part, as the Wildcats secured 46 rebounds compared to the Monarchs 32. Jaylen Benson-Hollin of JWU grabbed a game-high 15 in the contest.
- For the second straight game, the freshman Hicklen led all Methodist scorers with a season-high 19 points. Brinson was the only other Monarch shooter that had ten or more points, with 11.
- Methodist took advantage of the Wildcat turnovers. The Monarchs were able to add 26 points off 22 turnovers, while JWU forced 15 turnovers and scored 13 of them.
