CARY, N.C. On Thursday, Methodist men's soccer faced off with William Peace University in the semifinals of the USA South Athletic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament. The host Pacers got the better of the Monarchs and ended their season with a 3-0 victory at WakeMed Soccer Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist came out with a purpose in the first nine minutes of the match. The Monarchs kept the ball in the attacking third and were able to get off three shots.
- The match turned in favor of William Peace midway through the first half. Eventually Josh Rutland registered the first goal of the game, in the 30th minute, after receiving a pass from Jorge Aguilar.
- The Pacers took a 2-0 advantage after Ramiro Vera scored in the 40th minute. Jorge Lemus was able to find an open Vera before the ball found the back of the net.
- William Peace finished up their scoring in the 60th minute with a goal from Alex Macedo. Teammate TJ Hurd dished it off to Macedo for the one timer.

- The Pacers offense outshot Methodist by a 14 to seven difference.
- Junior Christopher Shoffler recorded the lone shot on goal for the Monarchs, while leading the team with two shots overall.
