FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist women's tennis began their spring portion of the schedule with an 6-1 loss to Division II opponent Barton College, on Wednesday afternoon, at Gene Clayton Tennis Center.

Abby Caddick, in the first singles match.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Bulldogs opened up by sweeping all the double matches to take the early advantage.
- Barton won four of the six singles matches in straight sets. Giving the Bulldogs the most trouble was Methodist players Toni Laney and Caddick.
- Laney won the first set 6-2 in the No. 2 match against Maren Kronbeim. Kronbeim came back to take the next set off the tie breaker 7-2, after getting the score to 6-6. The final set saw Kronbeim pull out the victory by winning by a score of 10-5.
- In the No. 1 match, the opening set reached 6-6 to force a tie breaker where Caddick prevailed by winning 7-3. Eimear Maher evened the match by winning the second set 6-4 before Caddick won the match 10-8 in the last set.
