DEMOREST, Ga. Methodist's women's tennis drop a non-conference match, 6-3, to Piedmont University on Sunday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Toni Laney and Jill Lawrence gave the Monarchs the first set win of the day by beating Melissa Gish and Maggie Moody in the second double match. The Lions though won the other two double flights.
- Valeria Matute tied the match at two apiece for the schools after winning two straight sets 6-1 over Allison Dempsey. Piedmont were than victorious singles numbers 3 & 5.
- Both Laney and Lawrence competed in single flights as well, with Laney defeating Gish 6-4 followed by 6-3 in their two sets. It was not the same outcome for Lawrence as Alyssa McSpadden got the better by the same set scores.
- In the No. 1 singles match, Abby Caddick tied her flight at one set each, after losing her first set 6-3, by sending it into a tie breaker and prevailing 8-6. This forced a super tie breaker where unfortunately Caddick was bested 10-5.
UP NEXT
Methodist does not play again until next Saturday when half the team will travel to Elon University, at 11 a.m., and the others stay in Fayetteville to take on William Peace University at 1 p.m.
