Methodist Twice Scored Five Runs in an Inning During Win

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  Methodist baseball has another offensive showing on Saturday afternoon against Arcadia University, as the Monarchs beat the Knights 14-8 in a non-conference game, in the Diamond Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Methodist got to Arcadia's starter early as the team scored 5 runs in the first inning, which includes Gavin Wheeler driving in two runs.
  • The Knights would keep the game tight from that point on as they scored three runs to make it 6-3 heading into the bottom half of the sixth.
  • Than the Monarch put the game out reach by putting up another five spot, in an inning that saw Rob Wilkerson and Wesley Hall hit back-to-back doubles for three of the runs.
  • Arcadia scored two more runs in both the seventh and eighth innings to round out their scoring output for the game.
STAT FACTS
  • Four different Monarchs finished the game with two or more runs batted in.
  • Charles Jordan had a good day at the plate by going 3 for 3 and drawing two walks to reach base all five times he went up.
  • Making his collegiate debut was freshman Jarrett Hall. He threw 1.1 innings giving up no hits and striking out one batter.
  • Both sides were working the counts today as a total 19 walks were issued, Methodist (9) & Arcadia (10).
