HOW IT HAPPENED
- Methodist would jump out to a 6-2 lead before the Avenging Angels tied the game at six a piece. - The first bucket of the new quarter came from Zytipha Joines, of Methodist, which led to a 6-0 run to push the Monarchs back in front 14-10. After a five to nothing spurt by the Avenging Angels, a couple of lead changes occurred in the last five minutes until the final shot of the period by Kiley Hicks to make the score 20-17, in favor of Methodist, heading into the locker rooms.
- The Monarchs came out from the break and looked like a different team out on the court for majority of third, as they used two different 6-0 runs to go up by double figures, 32-20. Three-pointers by Zykeria Jenkins and Alyssa Shazer finished up the scoring for Methodist, in the stanza, for a 38-24 score.
- After Meredith added on two points from the free throw line, the Monarchs scored seven straight points for almost a 20-point difference, 45-26. The Avenging Angels got four of those back before another seven unanswered points by Methodist, which saw Jordan Langston make five of those. A three by D'Oleo and jumper by Serenity Webb were the last shots for the Monarchs to make it 57-32 with less than a minute left on the clock.
