FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. Methodist softball had a tough Sunday afternoon as they were swept by Guilford College by scores of 7-3 & 7-4 in non-conference action at Price Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams tallied their first runs in the third inning of the first contest. The Quakers took a 1-0 before the Monarchs came up with two runs off a double by Bethany Junker, during there at-bats.
- Guilford reclaimed the advantage in the top of the fourth. First, they tied the game off a Katey Griswold sacrifice fly than two batters later Abbie Hill launched a two-run homerun over the center field fence.
- Haley Fethke was able to return the favor in the bottom of the fourth, as she hit a solo shot to get Methodist back to within one, 4-3.
- The Quakers added on insurance runs, two in the 6th & one in the 7th, to create some breathing room before closing the books on the Monarchs.
- Game 2 saw Guilford jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning.
- By the end of the 3rd, Methodist would find themselves only down one run. With bases loaded, Kayleigh Raynor drew a walk to bring in one run before a couple of batters later Heather Tsapp hit the to center field to drive in two more.
- During the fourth, the Quakers had a pair of RBI singles to push their lead to 6-3.
- The Monarchs scored their final run of the game in the sixth, when Meaghan Himes successful stole second base Tsapp would trot down the third baseline on the attempted throw out, 6-4.
- Guilford added their final run on a wild pitch.

- In the two games combined, the Quakers out hit Methodist by a total of 30 to 14.
- Both Tsapp and Alexandra Edwards each had 2 RBI games today.
- Guilford would strand a total of 21 runners on base, in the two games, while the Monarchs left 10.

Methodist continue their eight game home stand on Tuesday as Carolina University makes the trip to Fayetteville. The first game of the doubleheader will start at 2 PM.
