Methodist Scoring Frenzy Led to Win Over Warren Wilson

ASHVILLE, N.C.  Methodist's men's lacrosse team concluded its non-conference portion of their schedule with a 21-3 victory over Warren Wilson College on Tuesday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Monarchs showed no mercy to the Owls as they scored 11 consecutive goals in the first quarter. Out of those 11 scores only Matt Pemberton netted multiple goals, which mean 10 different Methodist players had goals, including Abe Zwiefka finding the back of the net for the first time in his young career.
  • By the time halftime came around, the Monarchs found themselves up 14-2. The biggest highlight of the frame came when freshman George Rockett scored his first collegiate goal midway through the second.
  • Warren Wilson scored their last goal of the contest in the third period, while Methodist added on three more goals. Joining the action with his first career collegiate score was James Baird.
  • The final stanza saw the Monarchs wrap up the game with four more goals before the clock read zeros.
NOTES AND NUMBERS
  • Leading all goal scorers was Kit Allman (four) followed by Hunter Vaughan and Matt Bentz, who each had three goals and two assists.
  • To add on to the number of first in their careers is J.R. Newman, who assisted on one of the goals in the beginning quarter for his first point.

Methodist takes the next couple of days off until Saturday as they begin USA South Athletic Conference action starting with a home date against Piedmont University. Game time is set for 1 PM.
