HOW IT HAPPENED
  • In the 11 a.m. match, the Monarchs won one out of the three doubles matches thanks to Jordan Theron and Quinn McNamara. Opponent Lucas Robins and Josiah Schainblatt made Theron and McNamara work for their win in the Number 1's doubles, only winning by two, 9-7.
  • McNamara battled in his singles matches to opponent Hayden Shoemake, tallying the closest deficit for Methodist in his first set, 6-4 and finished the second set 6-2.
  • During the second match, Theron and McNamara remained in the No. 1 doubles position but played Lucas Robins and new partner Hayden Shoemake. Just like in the earlier match of the day, Theron and McNamara defeated the Bulldogs' No.1 doubles team and dominated in the match to win 8-3.
  • Henry Murray and Luke Laney competed in the No. 2 doubles against Zvonka Bencedic and S. Kamieniecki but came up short 8-4 in the end.
  • After taking one doubles flight, Methodist would go on to take one singles flight to land the Monarchs' second victory of the match. Theron finished out the day competing in the No. 2 singles spot, defeating Bencedic in a close fight to win by two in both sets, 7-5, 6-4.
