FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. While in split squads on Saturday, half of Methodist's women's tennis team went to visit Mary Baldwin University and took them down 8-1 to open up USA South Athletic Conference action, while the rest stayed at Gene Clayton Tennis Center to take on Hollins University in a non-conference match and won 9-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Monarchs dominated the Fighting Squirrels in doubles by taking all three flights by scores of 8-0.
- Megan Kidd, Jill Lawrence, and Valeria Matute kept the shutout trend going in their singles matches with sweeps of 6-0 in each set. Abby Caddick and Toni Laney would also impressively win their respective flights after posting set scores of 6-1 & 6-0.
- Mary Baldwin's lone win came No. 6 singles when Liz Wine defeated Imani Bellamy 6-2 in both sets.
- During the Hollins match, Methodist would also take an 3-0 advantage after winning every doubles flight.
- In singles, Alex Pratt, Luciana Forma, & Sydney Bird won their matches with identical set scores of 6-1, 6-0.
- After take the first set 6-0, Hannah Higgins had to battle Emily Jones a little claim a 6-3 second set. It was a little bit of the opposite for Milana Lewis as she won a close 6-4 in set one before turning in a 6-0 set score in the second.
- The closest match of the day was between Veva Willocks and Krishna Agrawal. Willocks prevailed after beating Agrawal 7-5, 6-4.
