HOW IT HAPPENED
- Guilford got off to an early start by hitting three hits to drive in two runs in the first inning. In Methodist's first at bat, Spencer Nelson found the trees out in left center field with two outs and no one on base for a single run homer to make it 2-1 after the first.
- The Quakers scored one run in the second inning to go ahead 3-1 before both teams experienced a lull in the next three innings.
- In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Monarchs picked apart Guilford's defense by scoring six runs off six hits. Hunter Hollman's single to right field, rounded Gavin Wheeler and Wesley Hall home to tie the game 3-3.
- During Jacob Austin's at-bat, he hit the ball into the gap between right and center for a bases clearing double to take a 6-3 lead. With Austin on second, Nelson was able to send him home with a smack to left center to make it 7-3 before the last out of the inning.
- Methodist scored five more runs in both the seventh and eighth innings and held Guilford to just one run in the final inning.
